cultivating gardens of resurrection.
BLOOM IS A COLLECTION OF HOUSE CHURCHES THAT MEET THROUGHOUT THE GREATER DENVER AREA.
House Churches are communities of 10 to as many as 40 people which meet regularly for a meal, prayer, and mutual encouragement. They are one of the primary vehicles of our life together, and in them most if not all of our shared commitments find expression. House Churches will often host worship and prayer nights, frequently join together in service to the wider Bloom community and to the city in works of justice and mercy, and are always seeking to deepen their shared life together. They are beautiful, rich expressions of the body of Christ.
House Churches are led in community, consisting of co-leaders, a host, a coordinator, and often a leader-in-training. Every person seeking to become part of the Bloom community is encouraged to attend and eventually settle into a house church, becoming a contributing member. Many of our House Churches incorporate children, and those that do are indicated HERE.
House Churches are also clustered together in what we call “Sections.” Each Section of House Churches has a Section Leader who meets regularly with their House Church Leaders to see how things are going and also to cultivate a shared life in the Section itself, planning worship and prayer nights, social gatherings, and outreach events.

OUR VISION AND VALUES
The mission of Bloom is simple and straightforward: we desire to see the Kingdom of God "bloom" all over Denver, Colorado as people learn to take Jesus and his Story more seriously than any other thing.
What does that look like for us? In short, our dream as a community is to see God's future world begin to emerge here and now both by planting and cultivating a vibrant network of house churches where people can experience a deeply formative life together in the family of faith as well as by creating a rich liturgical space on Sundays where we can be drawn together into the mystery of Christ Jesus.
Our values both flow from and guide our dreams. They begin with a vision of God, and culminate with a vision of the kind of world God desires to see.
We value beauty because we think that God, the supreme source and ground of all Goodness, is beautiful (Ps 96:9). We think that our desire for and orientation towards beauty is in fact a desire and orientation towards God. We therefore celebrate beauty because we think that all beauty somehow testifies towards the Beautiful (God).
As our lives are increasingly oriented towards and drawn into God, they too become beautiful. Christ Jesus is the form of God's beauty, and as the Spirit's work in us is to bring us into the likeness of Jesus, so too our lives will take on an ever-increasing "divine aesthetics."
Christianity is inevitably communal. We believe that Jesus didn't come to write a book, but to start a community that would bear witness to his presence and work in all of life. To cling to him is to cling to his people. We therefore value community as intrinsic to the life of faith.
SACREDNESS OF WORK
The very first verb used in Scripture is "create" (Gen 1:1). God brings his beautiful order to the chaos and then calls human beings to share with him and continue his work (Gen 2:15). We believe that all human work is a deep expression of our image-of-Godness, and is an important expression of our "priestly" ministry to the world.
Justice is the name of what happens when "love your neighbor as yourself" becomes concrete. We stand with the prophets of ancient Israel in believing that God's dream is a world in which each human being is treated with the dignity proper to their being made in the image and likeness of God, and our desire is to seek creative ways to partner with God in seeing that dream come to fruition.
"Shalom" is the Hebrew word for "peace." It means something like everything in its place, flourishing as God intends. The arc of Scripture bends towards a vision of comprehensive, cosmic shalom, where the beauty of God is made manifest in all of life, for everything and everyone. Our living the way we have chosen to live is so that the shalom that is proper to God's future world would begin to take hold here and now.
